I recently had the opportunity to visit Soco Restaurant in Thornton Park! Soco is Downtown Orlando’s newest restaurant concept boasting over 4,500 square feet of culinary-goodness!
Soco stands for “Southern Contemporary” and prides itself with having a “progressive culinary approach”. They note that they are 60% contemporary & 40% southern (In my opinion, the perfect amount of culinary class with a dash of southern sass 😉 ).
Located on the beautiful corner of Central Blvd. in the heart of Downtown Orlando, the restaurant offers a comfortable atmosphere while still eluding high class and southern charm.
Inside, the restaurant is broken up into different rooms which creates an immediately home-y feel. One side of the restaurant holds its formal seating where guests have a great view of bustling Thornton Park. On the left side of the restaurant is a large bar fit for any cocktail aficionado. In fact, Soco prides themselves in custom cocktails (they are incredibly delicious). For instance, their Bloody Mary has over 100 ingredients! They take the time (and energy) to truly create a crafted cocktail.
While dining at Soco, I tried 2 of the signature craft cocktails.
The first, was the Sparkler. Created with Sparkling Wine, Bernheim Wheat Whiskey, Aperol, Lemon, & Agave. The second cocktail was the Watermelon Cooler (you could literally taste the watermelon grains in the drink, THAT’S how fresh it was). This cooler was created with Fresh Watermelon Infused Vodka, Lime, Ginger, Pink Peppercorn, & Mint.
The menu boasts an incredible vast selection of different delicacies, basically whatever your little heart desires. I had a selection of their most popular appetizer selections including the following:
– Slow Roasted Barbecue Glazed Pork Belly Biscuits, with Jalepeno Jelly and Chow-Chow
-Cornmeal Crisped Oysters- Pickled Green Tomato Relish, Chicharrones, and Herb Cream
-Crab-Stuffed Deviled Duck Eggs- Crisp Bacon, Lemon, Truffle
-Soco Style, Chicken & Dumplings- Carved Chicken Breast, Lobster Dumplings, Local Mushrooms, Edamame, and Soy Butter
The food was unique & flavorful and I’m truly looking forward to going back to give their main entree’s a try. I even heard they have started serving brunch now! For a look at Soco’s entire menu please visit their website: HERE
