Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Maybe have a craft beer luvin’ mama?
One of my favorite breweries, Hourglass Brewing, is hosting the Florida SMaSH Beer Festival this Mother’s Day Weekend.
On May 13, local beer enthusiasts can experience one of Florida’s newest beer festivals. This event is a celebration of creativity between brewers throughout the state to provide an opportunity to give back to the community through The Sharing Center.
The festival is presented by The City of Longwood and will take place on May 13, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.at the Longwood Community Building.
The breweries will concoct a beer made from the same single malt and single hop, creating a limitation to force brewers to think outside the box as well as focus on technique. With approximately 80 beers to sample, including one-offs from every brewery involved, there will be offerings for a wide range of different palates.
Proceeds from the event will benefit The Sharing Center, an organization focused on preventing hunger and homelessness for families and individuals in crisis. The Sharing Center offers a hand-up to the working poor in Seminole County and those who are struggling to move out of homelessness.
The event is for adults 21 and older, general admission tickets can be purchased for $35 on floridasmashbeerfestival.com. The Longwood Community Building is located at 200 W. Warren Ave., Longwood, Fla., 32750.
