I’ve been a big fan of Bento Cafe for quite some time visiting their Downtown Orlando location almost weekly while visiting a client in 55W. So of course when I received the opportunity to come check out their newest location out at UCF ( 12250 Strategy Blvd. Suite 443 ) along with their new healthy option menu items I couldn’t pass it up!
One of my favorite things about Bento is their quick service concept-if you’re in the mood for sushi and want to grab it quick…Bento is the place to go!!
First off, let me start with telling you that I currently have an unhealthy obsession with Boba Tea…so when I saw that they had a large selection of Bobas on the menu my heart fluttered a little! Of course I started our meal with a Thai Tea Boba & J got his signature Coconut.
Bento is now serving what they call Kawaii Sushi Rolls (which is a healthier alternative to regular rolls) with their signature made fresh ingredients wrapped in rice paper & lettuce with the protein options of tuna and salmon; or the Szechuan with carrots, snow peas, broccoli, baby corn, and scallions in a spicy Szechuan sauce.
Another reason why I love Bento? They use hormone-free chicken and 100% Certified Angus Beef…I only try and eat the best for my preggo self!
When I enjoy any Asian cuisine my favorite go-to appetizers are the Krab Cheese Wontons & Miso soup. Bento has some of the best Krab Cheese Wontons I’ve ever had!
As for sushi rolls, we tried three different types!
The first roll we had was the Gucci Roll made of shrimp tempura, avocado, topped w/ baked spicy krab and ebi delite drizzled with eel sauce. I loved the tempura crunch that this roll has!
The next roll we tried was the Volcano Roll. This roll is made w/ krab, cream cheese, avocado, topped with scallions and salmon, then baked w/ spicy mayo and sprinkled with masago. If you’re a fan of rolls with a little kick then this roll is for you!
Now I’ve saved the best for last! The roll we ended our evening with is the 151. This roll takes the award for best flavor and also best presentation! It was almost too beautiful to eat!…almost…
The 151 roll is made of fried lobster tail (lawd have mercy), asparagus, krab, masago topped w/eel sauce and red tobiko. AKA little rolls of heaven!!
Overall, we had a wonderful evening at Bento’s University location. It was quick service with a fun young atmosphere. If you’re headed here for dinner, make sure to check UCF’s game schedule to avoid any long lines…we got to the restaurant just in time before the football crowd flooded in! They also have lots of flat screen TV’s that have the game on if that catches your fancy.
Disclosure: I was invited to come check out the new Bento Cafe University location & menu options & was given a gift card to pay for my meal, however, all opinions are my own and I promise to always give you my honest opinion!
